School Refurbishment in Bankstown: Two Canteens, a Hall and a Full Internal Repaint at St Brendan's

Bankstown is a busy suburb and St Brendan's School reflects that, a large, active campus with students, staff, and parents moving through it every day. When a school this size needs a refurbishment across multiple buildings and spaces, you can't treat it like a standard commercial fit-out. The people it serves can't just go somewhere else while the work happens.

School Refurbishment

We were appointed as head contractor and delivered the full scope across six months, with 18 specialists on site. Both existing canteens were completely renovated and upgraded, new fixtures, fittings, and finishes brought to a modern food service standard. The multi-purpose school hall was transformed with structural modifications and updated finishes. Extensive internal painting ran throughout the entire school, covering classrooms, corridors, and common areas. Accessibility and compliance improvements were made throughout to meet current standards.

Refurbishing Two Canteens Without Shutting Down Lunch

Two canteens on one site means the whole school depends on them every day. Refurbishing both at the same time isn't an option when students still need to eat. The sequencing here ran one canteen at a time, completing the first, getting it operational again, then moving into the second. It takes longer to stage it that way, but there's no other way to do it on a live school campus without creating a real problem.

Painting an Entire School While It's Still Running

Full internal painting across a school the size of St Brendan's is a bigger scope than it sounds. Classrooms, corridors, administration areas, the hall, every surface on a live site. Works were carried out in sections timed around the school day and school holidays. Wet areas had to be clear before students were back in them. Every room handed back was finished and ready to use, not handed back mid-job.
