Rooftop Waterproofing Membrane Replacement in Bondi Beach

Alot of the older blocks around Bondi Beach are on their second or third roof by now. Its the salt that does it, plus the sun and those big southerly changes that roll through over summer. Owners along Campbell Parade and up toward Ben Buckler usually ring us after a stain shows up on a ceiling downstairs. By then the membrane has been letting water through for years.

Rooftop Waterproofing

We replaced the full rooftop membrane here. The old one came off completely, along with any wet screed sitting under it. Some builders will patch one section and call it done, that buys you a winter at best. Water travels sideways under a failed membrane, so the leak you can see is hardly ever where the hole actually is.

Waterproofing Membrane Replacement

Back at bare slab we ground it flat, filled the cracks, and laid a new screed to falls. Falls matter more than people think. Water sitting in a puddle finds a way through eventually, water that runs off to a drain does not. The new membrane went down to AS 4654.2, with proper detailing at every upturn, penetration and drainage point.

Concrete Repair and Substrate Preparation

Any spalled concrete got cut out and the exposed steel was treated before we covered it over. Doing this bit properly means alot less problems in ten years time.

What to Ask Before You Sign

Ask for the membrane product name and the warranty in writing. Ask if theyre replacing the screed or just coating over the old one. The answers will tell you plenty.
