Façade Upgrade in Rose Bay: Rendering and Painting on an Award-Winning Building

Rose Bay sets a high standard. New South Head Road is one of Sydney's Eastern Suburbs' most visible corridors — the buildings along it get noticed, and the one at 691 is architecturally award-winning. When the façade on existing blockwork started showing its age, the bar for the upgrade wasn't just functional. The finish had to hold up against the building's reputation.

We were engaged to carry out a full façade upgrade across the existing blockwork, rendering and high-quality painting works across the entire exterior. Twelve weeks on site, 12 specialists. Full scaffolding and elevated work platforms were installed from day one to give safe access to every section of the building. The scope ran from surface preparation right through to the final coat, bringing the exterior back to a standard that matches what the building actually is.

Working on a Building With an Architectural Reputation

Award-winning buildings have existing design intent. The rendering and paint system had to work with the geometry and detail of the façade, not just cover it. Colour selection, render profile, finish texture, these decisions matter on a building like this. Get them wrong and the upgrade reads as remedial work rather than a genuine improvement. The outcome here needed to look like it belonged.

Scaffolding and Access on New South Head Road

691 New South Head Road sits on a busy arterial road in the Eastern Suburbs. Full scaffolding on a building this size, on a road with that kind of traffic, takes careful planning with the council and with residents. Access windows, loading zones, pedestrian management, all of it coordinated before a single tube went up. The works ran without incident and the road stayed clear throughout.
